Brunswick Bierworks crafts fantastic beer and a welcoming event vibe

It’s not every day that you can hold an event at a beer lab and advanced production facility. But then, not many venues are quite like Brunswick Bierworks.

Founded in 2016 and located in a quaint corner of East York, this is a conversation-starting, hops and barley-laden playground for beer aficionados and anyone who loves a truly unique, flavour-laden pint.

What makes it so special? Brunswick Bierworks contract brews on-site—and conducts brewing-related product quality tests—for a revolving door of professional brewers. The space houses an impressive tap room that features 20 rotating craft brews, five of which are their own brand and only sold on-site, while a host of other feature taps are contract brewed on-site for various brands. They also stock several imported beers that round out a very noteworthy taproom menu. This is a venue with something for everyone, including seasonal beers, one-offs and some very intriguing collaboration

Now, there’s an imported standout offering that deserves an honourable mention: Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier, which comes from world’s oldest brewery. The full-bodied, 5.4 per cent Hefeweizen has hints of cloves and refreshing banana notes and is brewed according to centuries-old traditions on the Weihenstephan hill. It’s delicious and very much worth a pint (or maybe two).

The bottom line is that Brunswick Bierworks knows beer better than almost anyone in the Greater Toronto Area.  They also understand how to host a great, family-friendly party—or baby shower, wedding or corporate event—pretty well any kind of gathering that involves groups, large or small.

We pair flights of Sliders with the awesome flights of beer

According to Jessica Nicholson, Brunswick Bierworks’ Event Sales and Taproom Manager, the venue can accommodate as many as 150 people inside and about 200 when their spacious and thoroughly inviting patio is open in the late spring, summer and early fall months. A tucked-away location offers one important advantage. “We’re situated in an industrial area,” Nicholson points out, “so that gives us more leeway to play music and make a bit more noise during our events, because we don’t have neighbours.” Overall, Nicholson says that Brunswick caters to people who love beer and are looking for a non-traditional space.

Many of those guests look to incorporate fun activities into their events as an interactive complement to the amazing beer selection. From cornhole and board games to Jenga and trivia, the varied clientele make sure to put their own unique spin on their gatherings. “We also have a vintage bicycle that people like to work into their events,” Nicholson adds. How that two-wheeler gets incorporated is completely up to the organizers.

We add to the fun event vibes with our Suspended Pretzel Display

Another fun offering: a custom can program. That means party planners can customize gift cans of beer with text or an image—when celebrating a wedding or anniversary, for example—to make their event even more memorable and to give their guests a takeaway keepsake. Most recipients end up saving only the empty can, of course, because they can’t resist draining its delicious contents!

Inside, Brunswick Bierworks’ light-filled décor is designed in a retro-industrial style, with live-edge tables, exposed wood beams, poured concrete floors and a vibe that’s as trendy as it is welcoming.

Our CEO Fia Pagnello is a huge fan of this incredible Event Space

We would argue that one of the venue’s greatest draws is its engaging team. With a core group of in-house staff and the option to bring in third-party catering staff to lend a hand for events, all of their employees share a few qualities in common: they’re friendly, professional and love beer—much the same way that our team loves food.

“What we like best about working with Kiss the Cook Catering is the fact that they’re gracious and give a high level of attention to their delicious food,” explains Nicholson. “They take care of our guests and are always accommodating, making catering plans work to suit their needs on the day of an event.

“They go above and beyond for us, and we really appreciate that.”

We love bringing our delicious food and customizable barbecue stations to make those gatherings even more memorable. Delicious dishes from our events menu, such as our fried chicken sliders, one bite Nachos, and veggie bites—including our Mac N Cheese Bombs, or Avocado Fresh Rolls—serve up the perfect hors d’oeuvres for any gathering. Tempting dinner dishes like our BBQ Char Siu salmon, grilled steak with chimichurri or Jamaican jerk chicken, not to mention vegetarian dishes such as our famous Chana masala, are a perfect match for this event space.

Top it all off by choosing irresistible treats ranging from our mason jar tiramisu and mini-New York cheesecakes to jumbo cookies and lemon meringue tarts. It’s the perfect finish to any celebration.
